Resident Evil RE-Make - Jill

I'll be honest, this game was the sole reason I picked up a Gamecube back in the day.

Back in 2001, in a rather ballsy move, Nintendo and Capcom announced that a trio of Resident Evil games would be exclusive (at the time) to Nintendo's Gamecube system. Those games would be Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 0 and a remake of the first game. Now while Resident Evil 4 was a big get for the Big N, the main event in my opinion was the RE-Make This wasn't a simple re-texture job with higher-res models. The first game was remade from the ground up. New areas, new mechanics, new enemies, the works. This is the definitive version of the first game.

If you played the original game and thought you were just going to breeze by, you were gravely mistaken. Kill a zombie? Better hope you blew it's head off or incinerated the corpse, otherwise you're in for a nasty surprise after a while. Had the maps memorized? Here's a few new areas. Expecting a surprise attack while going down a certain hallway? Might happen...might not happen.

This game, despite being a little under 20 years old as of this typing, still holds up and is one of my favorite RE games right alongside the original RE2.
