20211105 Crouching Worker, Hidden Prices - The Daily Summation

You think it's ridiculous that hospital charges you three hundred dollars, for an antibiotic they buy for $1.50?

The question I would ask you is, "Are you REALLY paying for just the shot or bottle of pills or liquid?"

You can BET the answer to that question is, "No."

Besides the folks who administer the shots, and those who work in the hospital's pharmacy, there are people making beds, cleaning toilets, scrubbing floors, and frankly, painting lines in the parking lot.

Those people need to be paid for as well.

And we've not yet even MENTIONED the cost of that equipment they used to image your lungs, or have YET TO BUY to make them more able to diagnose and treat your ailments.

Think this is only true for hospitals?

You can be sure it's not.

That restaurant isn't just paying the chef or cook, they have to pay dishwashers, and yet again, people who maintain and keep up their facilities.

Not enough reason to pay more than you think something should cost based on the things they're buying?

Want another location for that store? They need to make the money to make that happen.

Of all their costs though, the GREAT MAJORITY of what many businesses pay, is PEOPLE costs. This is what drove me to name this piece, "Crouching WORKER, hidden prices."
