In Virginia, Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat incumbent Terry McAuliffe in the governor's race on Tuesday. Youngkin is the first Republican to win a statewide office since 2009. He is expected to win the crucial election by a 3% margin.

The Iowa Legislature has passed a bill that makes residents eligible for unemployment benefits if they lose their jobs because they refuse the coronavirus vaccination. Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the bill into law Friday, making it effective immediately. Under the bill, people who claim medical and religious exemptions will be protected by state law if they are fired for doing so.
