Companies like Fight for the Future and many others requested Valve to not ban web3 technologies including NFTs. On September 2021, blockchain-based games were banned from Steam due to them possessing real-world value. In response, the companies told Valve that “Web3 games are a fast moving and exciting category of games that have a place withing the Steam ecosystem. Please consider changing your stance on this issue and permit tokens and, more broadly, the use of blockchain tech on the Steam platform.” NFTs are a unique way to allow players to buy and sell unique ownership, and they can technically contain anything digital such as items players can earn in video games, animated GIFs, songs.
