Radio host Mark Belling Milwaukee WISN talks about Sauk County GOP sending a letter to Wisconsin State Senator Marklein on election audit.
Dear Senator Marklein,

On December 17, 2020 you and fourteen other colleagues of the Wisconsin State Senate signed a letter to Governor Evers forcefully advocating for strong measures to reform our election process and to work towards restoring public trust in this process. "There is one thing that is crystal clear from the 2020 election: that exploitation of our election laws in Wisconsin have fomented distrust and concern among the electorate."

More than seven months ago, in February, you described the scope of an audit of this same election, that the Legislative Audit Bureau would undertake. At the Sauk County Republican Caucus on Febuary 27th, you personally encouraged us to focus our anger towards resolving these concerns through the Legislative process, you described how you would be involved in this audit and you personally assured us we should expect to see periodic reports, as sort of a modular approach, with the complete audit released some time later. Finally, you encouraged us to never give up with our goals in this effort. Sir we have not and we must not.

Since then, however, you had not given us any updates regarding this audit currently being performed by the Legislative Audit Bureau. You have not engaged with us here in Sauk County despite multiple attempts to discuss with you about these concerns over these several months. You did not respond to several attempts to invite you to a recent Election Integrity event in Lime Ridge, and you also never responded to a certified letter delivered to your office a couple of weeks ago asking you to support the Brandtjen Supoenas.

As the leadership team of the Sauk County Republican Party, we are saddened and very disappointed at your apparent unwillingness to engage with us on what is currently our single most important Legislative Priority.

With the recent news release of the several enforceable subpeonas recently sent out by Justice Gableman, we want to hear from you how you intend to support these supoenas. Will you hold a similar resolve as demonstrated by the Arizona Senate to wield their lawful powers, such as reducing State funds towards entities if they do not cooperate with these audits? Only the leverage of reduced State funding to Maricopa County appeared to change the mindset of that County Leadership about cooperating with the Senate-led Audit.

Will you advocate for similar measures here in Wisconsin? Will you advocate for reducing funds for entities such as the Wisconsin Election Commission if they balk at any authorized investigation towards their role in the November 3, 2020 Election?

Are you willing to advocate for using any and all powers available to you as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance and personally as a Wisconsin State Senator?

We the Leadership Team of the Republican Party of Sauk County would like to meet with you, preferably in person to discuss these concerns that we and much of our membership have regarding the November 3, 2020 General Election. If this is not an option, we ask you for a detailed written response addressing our concerns.

However you intend to respond, please do so as soon as possible.

We understand you may choose to not reply or not to take our concerns seriously. Your decision, your actions, will be understood and we will act accordingly.

Respectfully Yours,

The Undersigned Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Sauk County,

Duane Janzen, President

B.C. Farr, First Vice-President

Jerry Kulosky, Second Vice-President

Will Underwood, Secretary

Jim Astle, Baraboo Area District Chairman

Dennis Gawronski, Reedsburg Area District Chairman

Jerry Helmer, Sauk Prairie Area District Chairman

Craig Doro, Spring Green Area District Chairman
