"Harvest Moon" is a song found on Neil Young's 1992 album of the same name, "Harvest Moon" (allmusic.com, 2021), which is a sequel to his 1972 album "Harvest" (T. Erlewine, allmusic.com, 2021). The song was written for his ex-wife Pegi Young, who passed on New Years Day 2019 due to her struggle with cancer (R. Merrett, people.com, Jan. 02, 2019). Neil recruited many of the same musicians who played on his 1972 album "Harvest" to play on his "Harvest Moon" album and song (songfests.com, 2021). The backing vocal on the song "Harvest Moon" was provided by Linda Ronstadt (M. Greenwald, allmusic.com, 2021). Although the song did not hit the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, it did hit the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart rising to #5 (wikipedia, 2021). It is also ranked #37 on the Rolling Stone: 100 Greatest Neil Young Songs (R. Giannini, metrodora.net, Oct. 11, 2014). When Neil toured in 1993 to promote the album, he used "the Stax Records house band, Booker T & the MG's" (songfacts.com, 2021).
