Lodi (Creedence Clearwater Revival, 1969). Live cover performance by Bill Sharkey, Home Studio, Hawaii Kai, HI. 2021-09-20. "Keeping the Oldies Alive"

Although "Lodi" didn't reach the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, instead stalling at #52 (Whitburn, 2013), it is a fan favorite. It was the "B" side to "Bad Moon Rising (littlebighero.org, 2020). According to R. McGinnis (vancouversignaturesounds.com, Feb. 5, 2021), John Fogerty, the writer of the song, once said that he never actually visited Lodi even though he grew up in Berkley, which is 70 miles west of Lodi (a small agricultural town); he simply chose "Lodi" because the name sounded cool. Fogerty stated "On 'Lodi', I saw a much older person than I was, ’cause it is sort of a tragic telling. A guy is stuck in a place where people really don’t appreciate him. Since I was at the beginning of a good career, I was hoping that that wouldn’t happen to me" (T. Pinnock, uncut.co.uk, Aug. 10, 2012).
