In this episode of SpeakUp! Costa Mesa, Costa Mesa resident and high school math teacher Dennis Ashendorf shares his opinions and concerns about the future of education as it relates to Ethnic Studies. He says Gov. Gavin Newsom is about to sign a state mandated ethnic studies curriculum for all students in California called AB-101 and it is not what you think it is.

Mr. Ashendorf points out that the creators of this mandated curriculum say it is your responsibility to stop problems in ethnicity and if you don’t like what is being taught, you are the oppressor. He feels our tax dollars should not be focused on curriculum that has political motivations and serve to only generate huge profits for the publishers. He says adding this course to the curriculum will harm our kids by taking away time from more essential courses.
