Ain't Misbehavin' (Leo Reisman, 1929; Hank Williams Jr., 1986). Live cover performance by Bill Sharkey, Home Studio, Hawaii Kai, HI. 2021-10-03. "Keeping the Oldies Alive"

"Ain't Misbehavin' " was written by Andy Razaf, "Fats" Waller and Harry Brooksin in 1929 for the Broadway play "Connie's Hot Chocolates" (M. Micucci, www.jazziz.com, 2021). The song was a huge hit on the charts by multiple artists the same year: Leo Reisman (#2), Louis Armstrong (#7), Bill Robinson (#8), Gene Austin (#9), Ruth Etting (#16), and Fats Waller (#17) (Whitburn, 1986). Then in 1937, Teddy Wilson hit the charts rising to #6 (Whitburn, 1986). Fifty-seven years after Leo Reisman's initial recording, Hank Williams' Jr. recorded the song, and it rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart in 1986 (Whitburn, 2013). Fats Waller's 1943 version of the song "received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1984 and was one of fifty recordings selected for inclusion in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2004" (M. Micucci, www.jazziz.com, 2021).
