Idolatry Today - September 3, 2021

Idolatry was a major problem in both the Old and New Testaments. But today Christians aren’t tempted to bow down before idols made of gold, silver, wood, or stone, right? Modern idolatry has taken on new forms. Christianity is attacked from without by new religions that refuse to admit that they are religions. But they have replaced God with something that is not God, they have their own systems of beliefs and lists of “sins”, and those who oppose them are treated like heretics. Christianity is also attacked from within by those who seek to transform Christianity into something that is no longer Christian, and by those who make images of God in their own imaginations, bowing down and worshiping gods of their own creation while telling themselves that they are worshiping the God of the Bible. In this message you will discover some of the forms that idolatry takes today, and you might be surprised by what you learn.
