Does God Care About You? - October 30, 2022
Much of what we read in the books of the Old Testament prophets tells of the negative consequences that will come upon Israel, Judah and other nations for their sinful disobedience to God. The prophet Isaiah is no exception. However, mingled with the message of coming judgment is the message of hope for those who turn back to God. Isaiah 40 is one of these messages of hope for those who will return to God in repentance and faith. I encourage you to read the entire chapter, but today we are going to focus on the final verses of this chapter.
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
2 Chronicles 20:12
Ecclesiastes 1:9
Isaiah 30:15; 40:27-31
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

The Importance of the Family - October 23, 2022
The family is central to God’s plan of salvation for the world. It is in the family that God wants us to learn how to relate to him and to others. It is not surprising that the family is under attack by Satan. Everywhere we look, we see the erosion of the sanctity of marriage, the normalization of sexual immorality and perversion, the sexualization of children, governments usurping the authority of parents, societal pressure on women to assert their independence from their husbands, and on children to rebel against the authority of their parents. If the family is destroyed and the past is forgotten or rewritten, society will lose its moorings and be set adrift in a sea of confusion and chaos. We need to stand up and defend the family against the devil’s attacks. Today we want to look at why the family is so important, what God wants us to learn in our physical families and what is the role of the local church as the visible expression of the family of God.
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
Genesis 1 - 2
Deuteronomy 6:4-7
Ezra 2:61-63
Nehemiah 7:63-65
Proverbs 3:12
John 13:35
Acts 16:14

Why Don't Some People Accept God’s Offer of Salvation? - October 16, 2022
We all have family and friends who are not Christians. It is clear to us that we are all sinners deserving eternal punishment, that we can never save ourselves, and that God, in his love and grace, offers salvation as a free gift to those who repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. So why do so many people not get excited and accept God’s offer of salvation as soon as they hear about it?
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
Psalm 36:1-2
Luke 15:7, 10
John 3:19; 6:44, 65

Ephesians 2:8-9; 4:17-19

Conversion - October 9, 2022
The Bible teaches that no one is born a Christian. We are all sinners by birth, separated from God and under His judgment. Jesus told Nicodemus that in order to become a Christian, you must be born again. Being “born again” refers to a process known as “conversion”. Conversion involves at least three elements: justification, reconciliation and regeneration. It is my hope that this message will help those who have already experienced conversion to better understand the change that has taken place in their lives, and that it will encourage anyone who had not yet been born again to turn to God in repentance and faith.
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
Genesis 3:8
John 3:1-7, 16-18
Romans 3:23; 6:10, 23

What Do You Want Jesus To Do For You? - Sept. 4, 2022
This story of the healing of a blind man by Jesus when he passed through Jericho is found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Mark is the only one who tells us that the blind man’s name was Bartimaeus. This episode in the ministry of Jesus is told in just a few verses, yet there are some important biblical principles crammed into those verses. Let’s take a look at them together.
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
Genesis 32:24-30

You Must Lose Your Life To Save It - August 28, 2022
The passage that we are looking at today is part of the turning point in the ministry of Jesus. It comes immediately after Jesus has talked to his disciples about who people think he is and who the disciples think he is. Peter has just declared that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Mt. 16:16). Jesus now begins to explain to his disciples that he must die and each of his followers must take up his cross. If we are to truly be Christians, it is crucial that we understand the teaching of Jesus in this passage.
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:
Isaiah 53
Zechariah 9:9-10
Matthew 4:1-11; 16:16, 21-27

A Mother’s Love - August 21, 2022
This is the story of a mother who came to Jesus for help because her daughter was demon-possessed. John tells us that Jesus performed so many miracles that it was not possible to include all of them in the Gospels (John 21:25). Each one that is included is there to teach us something. So, in this story, what is God trying to teach us about Jesus and the woman, and how does that teaching apply to you and me?
Here are the Bible passages that were used in the preparation of this message:

The Parable of the Soils - July 31, 2022
In this parable, Jesus helps us understand the different ways that people respond to the gospel and why they react as they do. He uses a simple story drawn from agriculture, with which everyone would have been able to identify. He talks about the gospel as seed that is sown in the lives of people, and he identifies four different types of soil, which represent four different heart attitudes that people have toward the gospel and life. These attitudes affect the impact of the gospel in the life of an individual. So what are these four types of soil, and what are the attitudes that they represent?

The Temptation of Jesus - July 24, 2022
Jesus understands what we go through when we are tempted because he was tempted himself. Taking Your Problems to Jesus - July 17, 2022
The Gospels are filled with stories of people who took their problems to Jesus and got the help that they were seeking. But in the two stories that we just read, Jesus doesn’t respond in the way that Martha and the brother expected and hoped. Why is that? We Were Created For Eternity - June 26, 2022
Do you ever feel that death ought not to be? Do you ever feel that their ought to be more that just this earthly life? If so, you are not alone. Many people feel the same way. The Bible tells us that these feelings are based on spiritual realities. God desires us to live with him forever in heaven. But our current, earthly bodies are not suited to life in eternity. We need to be transformed. Today we want to look at some of what Paul had to say about this in his two letters to the Corinthians.
