Virologists are extremely intelligent and extremely well educated but they pledge allegiance to the concept of universal transparency and every nucleotide sequence for any genome for any organism they ever study is presumably uploaded to GenBank or any other of the INSCDs (Corroborative databases for Virologists and other molecular biologists). To not do so would be weird. Remember it only took 14 days after receiving a sample from an infected person with a mysterious atypical pneumonia before scientists isolated, sequenced, and uploaded to GenBank for the world to use. This was a 30,000 nucleotide positively stranded mRNA virus that would eventually be called SARS-CoV-2. Within 2 -4 days, AI machines had produced prototype vaccines that could be used in animal studies.
