Lawyer representing Jan 6 defendants has gone missing; Supreme Court upholds Texas abortion ban

Attorney John Pierce, who’s representing 17 defendants accused of taking part in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach has disappeared. Pierce is reportedly ill but different versions about his illness are circulating while his whereabouts remains unknown.

Martin Avila is the CEO of RightForge. With a deeply divided Supreme Court ruling, a Texas law that bans most abortions went into effect on Sept. 1st. The high court voted 5-4 and denied an emergency appeal from more than 20 abortion providers and others looking to block enforcement of the law. The plaintiffs argued the law was unconstitutional in light of the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade.
