That's really fascinating about the application of vaseline. Have you checked what FPS gains you get with a chronometer? How much meat is there on the squirrel? Do you tend to need more than one for a meal, or does one suffice?

  I haven’t checked the FPS myself but I’ve seen videos on YT where they check it and there are pretty significant increases. My pellet rifle really doesn’t need it though, it will already put a .22 pellet completely through a half inch piece of plywood. Ain’t no squirrel or rabbit gonna survive that. I have a steel trap target that catches the rounds. All that is left of the pellets when they hit it are little razor thin pieces...they splatter when they hit it. As for squirrels, try to get a fox squirrel. Grey squirrels are small and wiry and fast and it would take a half a dozen to stink up a skillet. O good fox squirrel though, is fat and juicy and big and slow. All it takes Is one to make a good meal.
