Canada has also been hit by the Delta variant. Yet amid the rising cases, the Canadian province of Alberta decided to shift away from the country’s response to the pandemic. The timing of the move is quite interesting. The Trudeau government is considering mandating vaccines for some federally regulated workplaces such as airlines. Another Canadian province, Quebec will introduce a vaccine passport to provide nonessential services to only the vaccinated. But Alberta moved in a completely opposite direction. The province is now phasing out COVID-19 testing, quarantine, masking, and contact tracing. On Aug. 16th, the changes will be more significant. Albertans who test positive won’t have to self-isolate and the heavily criticized quarantine hotels will close.

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs announced he’ll be filing articles of impeachment in the coming weeks against Biden’s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. At a press conference on Friday, Biggs called Mayorkas[may-OR-kus] a threat to the sovereignty and security of the nation. He said under Mayorkas’s direction, “DHS is systematically releasing COVID-19 positive aliens into our communities, subjecting the American people to unnecessary and avoidable risks.”
