Has World Poverty risen or fallen?

In an era of significant climate awareness, there has been anxieties of potential rising world poverty. But how has it changed recently?
Has world poverty increased of decreased? Was Thomas Malthus right? What does the UN report say? Are there too many humans? Is the population too big? Is there too much climate alarmism? How will this affect the environment? What has happened to the global poor in the last few decades? Are there more nuanced ways of measuring poverty overall than extreme poverty?
