We have become accustomed to EU elites messaging the importance of values. Not everyone in the bloc agrees. In fact, a growing number of conservative and populist forces are speaking out against what some call Brussels’ ‘colonial’ outlook. Conservatives and populists talk the language of family and culture. EU elites talk of values to create a European superstate.
