finished recap of Episode 14
Reuben the oldest son of Jacob slept with Bilhah Jacob's concubine and Israel heard of it.
Joseph in the bible story was 17 yrs old and he was feeding the flock with his brothers the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah and Joseph brought their evil report to his father. Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children. He made him a coat of many colors his brothers began to hate him.
A short talk about prophecy and dreams, In the bible story Joseph is a dreamer and interpreter of dreams symbolic dreams and prophecy are very similar, it is a language of God.
There are important figures to understand what they represent in prophecy the 4 most important are Jacob, Israel, Judah and Ephraim
In the bible story Joseph dreamed a dream and he told his brothers "we were binding sheaves in the field and your sheaves bowed to my sheaves. They said 'shall we bow to you?'
He had another dream "The sun and moon and eleven stars bowed to me" His father said 'shall I and you mother and your brothers bow to you?'
Jacob sent Joseph to Shechem to check on his brothers who were grazing the sheep. He found them in Dothan. They said 'here comes that dreamer' Reuben tried to rescue him from his brothers, they took his coat of many colors and the threw him into a hole.
They sold him to some Midianites who sold him to some Ishmaelites.
Ruben then said 'he is gone what should we do?" They took his coat of many colors and dipped it in goats blood. They brought the coat to his father and he assumed Joseph had been killed by a wild beast.
Potiphar, the captain of the Pharaoh's guard bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites.
The Pharaoh was probably Senuseret III. He built a summer palace at Avaris Avaris was renamed Pi Ramses in later times.
Potiphar made Joseph the master over his household, everything but Potiphar and his wife. The wife kept trying to seduce Joseph but he always refused. She accused him of trying to seduce her so Potiphar threw Joseph into prison. In prison God blessed Joseph and he became the steward of the prison.
One day he interpreted the dreams of the Pharaoh's butler and baker who were in prison. The butler was restored to his job and the baker was executed as Joseph had predicted.
They both had dreams that were foretelling something that would happen in 3 days.
This shows the Joseph bible story as symbolic of Jesus Christ.
He was falsely accused and condemned. The dreams contain the 3 days analogy and in that time he judged the living and the dead.
