Earlier this year I uploaded a video of a Cornell Box test showcasing the raytracing in Unreal Engine 4.26. Well Unreal Engine 5 released earlier this week in 'Early Access', so, naturally I wanted to see how well the new Lumen NON raytracing Global Illumination and Reflections would compare.
In the UE4 side all lighting, Direct and GI, along with reflections and ambient occlusion is raytraced.
In the UE5 version on the right, no hardware raytracing is used, all lighting and reflections are handled by the new Lumen rendering system.
