Saturated fat has been the subject of dietary scrutiny and restriction since the 1970s. Hundreds of studies have been conducted evaluating the risks associated with consumption.

Sadly, many nutritional studies of all kinds over the years haven't been all that well-designed and many are outright flawed.

This particular paper from the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in August 2020 examined numerous studies over the last several decades to evaluate over 400,000 people and the impacts of saturated fats on cardiovascular disease risk (both incidences and deaths associated).
