It’s funny to see how simple things entertain simple creatures!
Dog trainer here. This is called superstitious behavior.

The dog probably was spinning during the first time or few times that he used the machine and in his mind he connected the behavior with the result "ball jumps out". Then it's just a matter of repetition that causes habit. He thinks the spins make the ball jump and indeed the ball jumps every time he spins.

I bet the dog doesn't hate themselves for the wasted time later.
He seems to have a very specific pattern.
