Albuquerque police union president Shaun Willoughby explained why several officers quit the Emergency Response Team following a protest. The union leader stressed that there's a lack of trust between the officers and the administration and that the team's ‘morale is gone.’

According to reports from a local media outlet, seventeen officers, one lieutenant, and two sergeants resigned from the team that handles protests following a counter-protest earlier this month. Apparently, the last nail in the coffin was when a man who was taunting the demonstrators with a gun was let go without any charges after being detained by a field officer.
