Western Ohio Marien Industrial District Operating Session

This video captures an entire operating session on my Western Ohio Railway Marien Industrial District layout. At the time of this video, I knew it would soon be dismantled in favor of a larger permanent layout based on the Western Ohio theme.

This video shows the work of picking the outbound train from Marien Yard. Then working the industries at the west end of town. After working Ohio Valley Lumber and Premier Plastics, the engines runs around the train to switch industries at the east end of town.

A large cereal manufacturing plant with a grain elevator and shipping docks is the anchor industry for town of Marien. In this video, Buckeye MIlls takes delivery of three covered hoppers full of grain. This grain will get turned into breakfast favorites such as Buckeroos, Frosted Buckeroo, Chocolate Buckeroos and Buck-nuts cereal brands.

Knott-Fitfur Animal Feed Company and Miss Terri Meats round out the industries served in Marien. Upon completion of the days switching duties, the engine runs around the train again to deliver the outbound cars back to Marien Yard for sorting.

The Western Ohio Railway Marien Industrial District was a 2 x 16 foot switching layout. This video was shot for the purpose of preserving what proved to be an excellent model railroad. Built in four foot sections, this layout was displayed three time at the NMRA Division 7 train show.
