The year 1967 was a fantastic year for the Buckinghams. They had 5 top 20 hits within a span of 12 months (Whitburn, 2013). "Don't You Care" was their second hit rising to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (Whitman, 2013). That was basically it. According to Tommy James (of the Shondells), this was the year that saw the switch from single making groups (e.g., the Association, Rascals, Shondells, Gary Puckett, Buckinghams) to album making groups (e.g., Led Zeppelin, CSN, Blood Sweet & Tears, Neil Young). Many of the single making groups just disappeared from the charts (S. Ortega, songfacts.com, 2009).
