Pickup Rear Ends 18 Wheeler, Driver Flown, PATONIA, April 8, 2021 - Shortly before 8 am on April 8, 2021, a silver Ford pickup, driven by Robert Louis Lantrum, 69, of Livingston, was west-bound on FM-3152 (about half a mile from FM-350 North). Lantrum was apparently distracted when he failed to notice an 18 wheeler, driven by Stephen Earl Norman, 48,of Huntsville, pulling heavy equipment directly in front of him. Lantrum's pickup slammed into the back of Norman's rig. His vehicle came to rest right there. Norman pulled his rig to the shoulder. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Ramey Bass and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lantrum was entrapped in his vehicle, Norman was physically okay. Volunteer Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door off of Lantrum's pickup and carefully remove him onto a stretcher. Lantrum was transported to a nearby landing zone (350 at 3152) where an Air Life medical helicopter landed and transported him to Conroe Regional Hospital with major injuries. Traffic on FM-3152 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Lantrum's vehicle was recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service and will be stored in Onalaska. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
