Will there be food shortages? Unlisted Video

Australians have been assured that there won’t be any food shortages due to Covid-19 but we all know that our food chain has never faced such a variety of threats.

The Victorian Lockdowns have been disastrous for food manufacturing plants.

The floods in China have affected 30 million people so far, and many crops are destroyed. Nobody has a crystal ball, but this could leave us with a shortage.

And there is no sign yet that the flooding (which started 3 months ago) are going to lessen any time soon.

Closer to home a farmer is looking to fill 700 vacancies for seasonal pickers. Of the 1200 replies, there were only 60 Tasmanians.

With the imposed self-quarantines costing people 1000’s of dollars, no seasonal worker in his right mind it going to pay that money for the privilege of working in Tasmania, if they can do the same job on the mainland.

There are many more reasons why we should prepare for a food shortage or at least expect a price increase of our favourite foods.

I know that in Holland there was a shortage of infant formula, due to market problems.

Pete and I are not fear mongering here, we are simply looking at the global and local situation through the lens of logic.

There is a big chance that there is going to be a fallout from Covid 19, which might cause empty shelves in the supermarket.

It is best to be prepared.

Pete started a vegie patch in our hothouse. The timing must have been a bit off because most of our broccoli went to seed before it formed heads, but we still got a few meals that tasted delicious.

The broccoli will go into the compost heap, which will enrich our soils when the time comes.

We also stocked up on healthy oils, for instance organic coconut oil, olive oil and macadamia nut oil.

Peter eats half a packet of butter per day, so we always have around 10 packet of organic butter in our fridge.

Oils and fats are nutrient dense and should really make up 50% of your diet.

That means that you don’t need much else!

And did you know that you only need to eat a meal portion the size of your hands, 3 x per day?

That would be the maximum because less is best.

Several studies with rats showed that rats on a starvation diet live 30% longer and healthier!!

We can live off our own fat stores for weeks, if not months. Our own fat is the best brain food as well!

Back in the good old days, we were indoctrinated that your own fat released toxins if you dieted for too long, but now we know better.

Using your own fat stores for energy, primes your brain and gives your body a complete reset.

A few years ago I decided to stop eating and I lasted for 10 days without any problems.

At that time I wanted to stop eating to give my body a chance to do some deep healing. I had niggling back pain from my old injuries.

Once I made up my mind, it was easy at the time. Because any change in lifestyle or habits is a mind game more than anything else….

I did feel better, those few niggles disappeared and I enjoyed being a breatharian for 10 days 😉 .

Pete had to do his own cooking and dishes. It was amazing how much time freed up for me.

All jokes aside… if you have to eat a bit less, don’t panic….. your body will thank you for it!

Pete and I don’t eat grains but if you are into rice and flour, I would stock up a bit, just in case.

We bought a few kilos of organic milk powder so I can make my own yoghurt.

The most logical solution is to eat nutrient dense food!

Nutrient dense foods like the Purple House Smoothie! Here is the recipe:

• 2 tablespoons of organic, cold pressed flax seed oil (only ever buy this oil from a cold dark place like a fridge and keep refrigerated)
• 6 tablespoons of organic plain full fat yoghurt or kefir
• 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil
• 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds
• 2 scoops of Bioraculous
• 2 sachets of Percy’s Powders
• 1 teaspoon of Relief Powder or Turmerix
• 10 drops of Iodine.

Extras:

• A knife tip of boron. Boron is a trace mineral that keeps your bones strong, and it is an effective and cheap Candida cure. Candida is a fungus that predisposes you to cancer.
• I often add a sprinkle of food grade Diatomaceous Earth, which is pure silica, in a form that kills internal parasites and mops up toxins.

You may need to add some water to create a consistency that suits your taste buds. You can add some cinnamon or vanilla to make the taste more interesting, or some culinary essential oils.

Mix in a food processor and eat slowly.

Do not be tempted to turn this into a fruit smoothie. Too much fructose is transformed into harmful oils inside your cells, which may cause pain and inflammation.

We stock Bioraculous, Percy’s powders, Turmerix, Relief powder and several other tried and true products.

Visit us on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 till 5 and Pete will take care of all your needs!
