Washington: La Connor Daffodil Fields 2016

Thao, Sofia and I went up to see the Daffodils on this trip. Thao’s favorite color is Yellow, and I’d assured her that there would be a great deal of Yellow there. I was using my Sony A77 DSLR, she was using her Samsung cell Phone camera. This matters because I can show you the difference in photo quality between the two cameras. Thao was taking pictures of Sofia, and I was taking pictures of her taking pictures of Sofia. The pictures with Thao and Sofia are from the Sony DSLR, the pictures of Sofia are from the cell phone.
I edited all pictures in Adobe Lightroom, but the cell phone pictures had a lot less data to work with, so they just came out flat, and colorless, or washed out colors. The next time you see someone using a DSLR, and think your cell phone pictures are “just as good” remember this example. DSLR’s are more dedicated to photography, light and color. Most people can’t tell the difference and that’s ok, but some of us can tell the difference. I hope you can see it here.

The La Connor Daffodil fields are right next to the Tulip fields in Skagit Valley, and at times, literally the same fields. The two flowers grow at different seasons so they can use the same fields. The difference in the names? I don’t know. Maybe “the Skagit Valley Daffodil Fields” didn’t sound as nice, but it is the same place.
