a few Carousels in Washington State

Have you ever been drawn to something all your life, but never really realized it ? I have always thought Carousels were “cool”, they have always attracted my eye for some reason. I love seeing the craftsmanship that was put into the animals, as well as the fanciful and whimsical nature of animal choices on a lot of the carousels I’d seen. I remember way back when being drawn to a carousel, just to see the animals on board, and how they were made. Being completely honest here, I could really care less about riding a carousel. I kind of shy away from riding for fear of damaging the beautiful efforts someone put into making those incredible figures.
Here is a collection of 4 Carousels around the Seattle area take a look at the themes of the carousels, the animal shapes and the care that went into making them.
The Carousels are located:
“the Outlet Collection” an indoor shopping mall in Auburn Washington
The Puyallup Fair, in Puyallup Washington.
Pier 57 at the Seattle Waterfront.
The Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle.
I discovered that Carousels are a fantastic location for trying out photography skills.
If you slow your shutter speed down gradually, you get a great sense of motion blur. Everything looks like it is going so much faster.
I love this affect. So here’s your challenge, next time you happen on a carousel, stop for a short bit and play with your camera.
Let me know how things turn out.
I generally put out a new video on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week, stop on by again soon to see what ‘ve put out.
