Within a 7 month span, a 17 year old new comer to the music field, Ricky Nelson, had seven top 40 hits on the Billboard Magazine chart in 1957; four of which were in the top 5 (P. Sexton, udiscovermusic.com, 2020; Whitburn, 2013). "Stood Up" hit the #2 position (Whitburn, 2013). The song also found its way onto the R&B and country charts, rising to #4 and #8 respectively. Nelson was the son of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and began his musical career on their family show, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," where he would debut his new singles (Wikipedia, 2021). Between 1957 and 1973, Ricky posted 35 top 40 hits and a total of 63 songs overall on the Hot 100 chart as Ricky Nelson, then Rick Nelson, and finally Rick Nelson & the Stone Canyon Band (Whitburn, 2013). He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987 (rockhall.com, 2021), two years after his death in a plane crash on December 31, 1985 (history.com, 2009).
