In The Meantime, Indiana's State House Passed Legislation This Week, To Eliminate Handgun Licensing.
The Measure Passed By A Vote Of 65-31, And Will Now Head To The State Senate.

By Eliminating Handgun Licenses, The Bill In Turn Would Eliminate The More Than $5 Million Dollars Raised Each Year From The Licenses Which Is Used For Law Enforcement Training,

Opponents Of The Measure, Including Law Enforcement, Say It Will Hurt Public Safety And And Increase The Burden On Taxpayers Who Would Have To Pay For Police Training If Passed.

Supporters Of The Measure Say The Status Quo Forces Citizens To Pay For A Constitutional Right.

Licenses Would Be Phased Out By March 2022.

In Addition, The Indiana State Police And Bureau Of Motor Vehicles Would Have To Find A Different System To Look Up Whether Or Not A Resident Is Permitted To Carry A Handgun.
