Truth Was Always There

Truth has always been and will always be. This poem tries to get to how we may get off track and away from truth but can always get back to it.

Thoughts planted by the enemy
With a purpose to hinder you
Fake
The absence of real
Enemy moves again
For that joy he wants to steal
Lies
Told again and again
Saying all you’ll ever be
Is the worst of your sin
Imposter
Hear the whisper “hypocrite”
Told you’ll never change
Go ahead and just quit
Failure
The only thing that seems consistent
Success so far away
An idea that seems so distant
Negative
The thoughts in your mind
Searching for some hope
That we never seem to find
End
Where the previous needs to be
Get up, shake it off
Come to the beginning point with me
Positive
The new train of thought
Fruits of the spirit
Take us back to the top.
Progress
The journey may seem long
But improvement keeps on coming
Much more right much less wrong
Samaritan
Doesn’t matter what others choose
We do the right thing
because it’s the right thing to do
Honesty
In practice and in speech
A now simple concept
For what seemed so out of reach.
Authentic
It’s what we’ve become
Living life in the light
Because we’re saved by the son
Truth
This is the way and the life
Truth is a person
And His name is Jesus Christ.
From beginning to the end
Now we travel back again
What was lost now is found
Ask forgiveness of your sin
Jesus is the word
And the word was in the beginning
He knew that he’d be dying
For a world so full of sinning
So you see the enemy
Got us to believe all the wrong
But the answer’s always been there
It was Jesus all along.
