God Wasn't Listening
Did you think He wasn't listening? Think again
Why aren’t you listening to me God?
I asked him time and again
Why don’t you answer this prayer of mine
And heal my sickly friend?
Why don’t you meet the needs of the poor
Why don’t you just provide?
Why don’t you stop the hate we see
I begged and screamed and cried
You can give me what I want
You can make it so
You can take my stress away
And help my career to grow
Why don’t you give me what I ask
Why don’t you move your hand?
Why don’t you just fix it all
I just don’t understand
You have the power, You have the might
I know this much is true
Why don’t you do the things I ask
My frustration grew and grew
I prayed, I asked, but I didn’t hear a thing
Until I got into his word and felt that guilty sting
God asked me the same question
Which I just proposed to Him
Why don’t I do the things He asks
Why continue in my sin?
He then proposed another thought
He had answered me before
He told me that I could look beyond myself
And focus on the poor.
He told me that sure there’s hate out there
But I told you to go and love
If we expect to conquer hate
Then we share our Lord above
He told me my ways are not His ways
He knows how it all will end
I can’t always see the big picture
And the plans He has for my friend
As for me and my comfort
He said He always meets my needs
This world is simply temporary
But he plants eternal seeds
So once again he posed the question
Why don’t you listen to me?
If you did, these things could change
Open your eyes and you will see.
The problem wasn’t with my God
He was answering all along
It was me that wasn’t listening
It was me that was wrong.
I dropped down to my knees
I begged Him to forgive
He pardoned me of my sins
And showed me how to live
Now my father is at work
And I listen to His word
And now that things are changing
I reflect on what occurred.

This is My God
A reminder of who God is.
My God is not a figmant of imagination.
My God is not a genie in a bottle
I serve the one true God
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
The God that created the heavens and the earth through the power of His word
The God that cleansed that very earth when it rebelled against Him
The God that took Abram from His land and made him into a great nation
My God spoke to Moses through a burning bush
When pharaoh wouldn’t let God’s people go; God showed his might
He can turn water into blood, make the day into night
He can send pestilence and take away the very life that He allows us to have
My God is not to be mocked and not to be denied.
Not by My hand but by His will you see His power.
He lead His people out of Egypt
He parted the red sea
He destroyed those that sought to destroy His people
God is a provider
He is a good good father
He gave His people food from the heavens
He sprung forth water from rocks
He gave His people a land occupied by impossible enemies
Impossible to humans but not to my God
He delivered those giants into the hands of His people.
My God can crumble walls built of stone
My God can fill people with the spirit to accomplish feats no man should be able to
He can take a willing heart from a different people and through them do wondrous works and bring the promised covenant
My God can speak through children or adults
He can raise up kings or take away kingdoms
My God is a deliverer. He is a strong tower
My God is salvation
He knows no limitations
My God is love. My God is wisdom. My God is truth
He need not dwell in a building but goes where the people call on His name.
We may turn away from God but He is forever faithful.
Although we change, He does not
My God keeps his promises. He keeps His word
If we follow His way, He is good to bless us.
My God can use man or beast to fulfill His work
My God can send armies of men or fish in the sea to do His will
My God will speak through his prophets
My God is merciful and patient.
He will tell us His intentions but will not always wait forever for us to do our part
We are on God’s time; He is not on ours
My God can close the mouths of lions
He can cool the flames of fire
He can cause those that plot against His people to fall into their own traps.
My God is love
My God sent His only son to die for our sins
My God humbled himself to save us
My God made the ultimate sacrifice because He is love
My God couldn’t be contained by death
My God can do anything. My God gave us everything
My God was, is and always will be
My God is waiting and working at the same time
My God is infinite
My God is perfect
My God cannot be described in word
You ask me why the change in who I am.
You ask me why I am different
You ask me why I am confident in my beliefs.
I’ll tell you why……
Because of MY GOD.

God's Calling You
Call to men
The word says to pray without ceasing
Not cease all the praying
Something to consider which actions we’re displaying
Our children see our actions
Let me say that again
Our children see our actions
Can we call ourselves men?
How can we lead when we won’t even act?
It’s time to get serious and pray the church back
Back to where? you ask….
I’m glad that you did
Back to the faith that we see in a kid
Let’s pray like it’s answered. Like God hears our prayers.
Like it’s a father we speak to, not “the big guy upstairs”
We’ve allowed our culture to grow weak in the faith.
We’ve sat back while the enemy kicked down our front gate.
And who pays for our ignoring the issues that come?
The innocent, the weak, and the lost are just some.
The broken, the forgotten, the families too.
“oh well I was busy” is just not an excuse.
I say that it’s time that we pray with conviction
That we step up as soldiers and accept our new mission
That we read and we study and we share what we learn
That we sharpen our skills to recognize and discern
Time for honest reflection. Time for absolute truth.
Time to be examples for the children and youth.
Women and children carried the torch for too long.
Thank God for their willingness but let’s face it…. That’s wrong.
God called for watchmen. Can you call yourself one?
Will you protect the innocent as a father protects his son?
I’ve heard the calling, now it’s time to decide
Will we answer that calling or do we lay down and die?
I’ve got my family. God you won’t be ignored.
As for me and my house….. WE WILL SERVE THE LORD
We will be in prayer. We will be in the word
We will answer the calling that you now have heard.
I’m calling for reinforcements because I can’t do it alone
But regardless of who comes, I’ll keep my eyes on the throne.
Moment of truth men…. What will you do?
Because right here. Right now… God’s calling YOU.

Truth Was Always There
Truth has always been and will always be. This poem tries to get to how we may get off track and away from truth but can always get back to it.
False
the opposite of true
Thoughts planted by the enemy
With a purpose to hinder you
Fake
The absence of real
Enemy moves again
For that joy he wants to steal
Lies
Told again and again
Saying all you’ll ever be
Is the worst of your sin
Imposter
Hear the whisper “hypocrite”
Told you’ll never change
Go ahead and just quit
Failure
The only thing that seems consistent
Success so far away
An idea that seems so distant
Negative
The thoughts in your mind
Searching for some hope
That we never seem to find
End
Where the previous needs to be
Get up, shake it off
Come to the beginning point with me
Positive
The new train of thought
Fruits of the spirit
Take us back to the top.
Progress
The journey may seem long
But improvement keeps on coming
Much more right much less wrong
Samaritan
Doesn’t matter what others choose
We do the right thing
because it’s the right thing to do
Honesty
In practice and in speech
A now simple concept
For what seemed so out of reach.
Authentic
It’s what we’ve become
Living life in the light
Because we’re saved by the son
Truth
This is the way and the life
Truth is a person
And His name is Jesus Christ.
From beginning to the end
Now we travel back again
What was lost now is found
Ask forgiveness of your sin
Jesus is the word
And the word was in the beginning
He knew that he’d be dying
For a world so full of sinning
So you see the enemy
Got us to believe all the wrong
But the answer’s always been there
It was Jesus all along.
