Seattle, Washington Alki Beach 2017

Alki Beach, right off the water. It was a nice sunny day, but windy and cold as can be. We didn’t spend a lot of time here because Thao was getting pretty cold. Alki is a great place to go during the summer, the water is refreshing when it’s warm outside. The Puget Sound is a protected inlet from the Pacific Ocean, so it’s not uncommon to see whales in the area, and being part of the ocean, the ocean is a constant 45 degrees no matter what time of year.
One of the great places to Scuba dive in the world. Back in the 1980’s, it’s where I learned how to Scuba dive. The underwater area around here is fascinating. In the tropics, the fish are colorful, and the rocks are bland. It’s different in the Puget Sound. The fish are rather bland colored, but the rocks are covered with brilliant lichen in bright oranges, yellows and greens. Sea Anemones, Sea Pens, Starfish, Sea Cucumbers, and Sea Urchins are brilliant in color. Right off Alki is where one of the largest Octopuses ever discovered lives. He’s about 14 feet long and very friendly. We used to feed it when we came to dive there. Please let me know what you think of the slide show.

I generally put out a new video on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week.
