Washington: Mt Rainier National park 2015 The Road to Paradise

In Washington State there are 63 Mountains. The most popular and most photographed is Mount Rainier. To get to the top of Mount Rainier, there are 2 routes you can take to get to two different sides of the mountain, Paradise to the south, and Sunrise to the North and East.
This time we went to the Paradise side. The highest you can drive up to the Mountain peak, yet still less than half way to the top. The rest of the way you’ll have to walk.
Paradise is usually closed due to heavy snow from about October to early May. So the wildlife up there is pretty sparse. Once up on Paradise you can only see other mountain tops, or if you stay after dark, you’ll see a beautiful and abundant array of stars.

This trip my photography companion was July, she’d never seen the mountain up close before, so I invited her along. She made the day more fun, pushing me to go ever higher. Always wanting to see what was over the next hill. That is until our shoes got wet from the snow, and the wind started blowing the cold air from the glaciers. Then it was a race to the bottom. All in all a great day. Starting off with a car show we just happened upon, I shot over 1,300 pictures and will be making at least 3 slide shows from this day alone. I hope you enjoy seeing Mt Rainier through my eyes.
