Snowflake Lane in Bellevue Square is a nightly parade Starting around 7:00 at night, from mid-November to Christmas eve.
It usually only lasts about 10 to 20 minutes, but people start lining up an hour or more beforehand to get a good spot along the road. This time of year is usually very cold, often below freezing sometimes raining, and sometimes snowing, so please dress for the weather. Midway through the parade the turn on the soap bubble snow for a feel of Christmas. The Snowflake Lane show features Drummers, Princesses, jesters Tin Soldiers, some on stilts, a walking snowman and dancers. All local kids from the High schools in the area. Holiday music is played from the tops of the buildings as soon as the shut the street down about an hour before the show. The sound quality is astounding, as well as the lighting and the projected snowflakes on the walls. The costumes are very nicely done and the kids do a great job of entertaining the crowd in the brief show. It’s all definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. It’s all free, paid for by the Bellevue Square mall, or “the Collection” as its known now. It was an attempt to draw late shoppers into the mall for last minute shopping and apparently it really did the trick, making The Collection one of the most profitable shopping malls in the area during the Christmas season.

I made mistakes that night shooting and my ISO was turned up way too high so all of my pictures were over exposed, and full of noise. I was able to correct a lot of it, but I should have known better and checked the shots every now and then. The good pictures you see here were taken from my wife’s cell phone which was better at taking pictures that night than my fancy camera. Entirely due to “user error”.
It happens, and I’m sorry, but please enjoy the show anyway it was still a very worthwhile evening for us.
