The Clarity of the Gospel
What does it mean to give something up to God, to take something to the Lord in prayer? For the friends of a paralyzed man in Mark 2, it meant physically picking up an adult male, carrying him up on a roof, and then tearing open that roof in order to lower him down to Jesus. This was not a motive without action, a sentiment in want of effort. It was a dedicated act of faithfulness through which they hand delivered their afflicted neighbor to the Lord. In our study of Mark 2, we will look closely at Mark 2:1-12, where we see how faithfulness to the Master brings us freedom. This is not only freedom from physical and spiritual bondage, but also through clarity of the mind. All idolatry and worldly thinking is in some way insane. But, to love the Gospel, and actually think with its principles, will give your mind sanity which cannot be stolen.
