Esau Is the Modern Man
Esau is the model of the modern man, its all base and low and terrible. We were made to do better. We must return to virtue, honor, faithfulness, and all things which lift up the soul to truth.

That Beautiful Morning (Revelation 21)
That Beautiful Morning (Revelation 21)
Our fallen minds are insane and obsessed with every consuming snare, but buried deep within the far reaches of the soul is the desire for a garden, wherein family and purpose abound; and, once we recover our sight and glimpse that beauty, we will find the truth of all pain and love: in that center is One who laid down His life so we could come home.

The 666th District of Babylon (Revelation 18)
The plot of Revelation 18 can be stated quite simply: Babylon and all the monstrosities therein are defeated; an angel declares its defeat and God’s People are given warning to know to leave; yet, people lament over the fall of Babylon, as it was their delicious source of corruption and jeer. Our study today is going to focus on how people end up in this state, craving both the gross sins and the fine-sounding falsehoods. We ought only describe this psychology of sin as the 666th District of Babylon, this is not to give an artificial name to the events in the text, but to describe the truth of fallen humanity.

Judge Me, Actually Judge Me!
Judge Me, Actually Judge Me!
We tend to read Matthew 7 as a depressant, cowering over the fact that we have a log in our eye. But we need to read this in the spirit of Psalm 26, Jesus wants us to get the log out of our eye with Him, and do great things. A Beautiful Heritage
A Beautiful Heritage
Our nation has lost its way. Our institutions openly advance sin, mock God, and defile everything true with arrogant words.
The only way back is revival, and the only way to revival is by declaring what is good, true, and beautiful. America was a Christian nation, and as preposterously popular as it is to despise and afflict our own heritage, the only path to the good is through Christ.

Is It Worth It?
Is It Worth It?
We hear it asked why a loving God allows suffering, but a more serious question is this: is it worth it? Do we focus on more of what we want, or more of what we enjoyed? Our discontents are born out of ungrateful comforts, which fail to appreciate what we have. (Church of the Nazarene).

If the Lord Had Not Been (Revelation 16)
Our study in Revelation now turns to seven angels who pour out the wrath of God on earth. Those who live in luxury and comfort might at first consider this cruel, when in fact it is mercy. Psalm 124:1-3 If the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they would swallowed us a live when their anger flared against us.

In the Meanwhile (Revelation 15)
In the Meanwhile (Revelation 15)
We often wonder what life looks like in Heaven, what things would be like when the Kingdom of God is clear before our eyes. For one passing blink, one shining moment, we get a glimpse at the answer to that question. We must understand, these people have not come up to Heaven easily, but after a violent confrontation with the beast. Yet, their bodies are not maimed, they are not burdened with injury or affliction. Instead, their bodies are well articulated; moreover, their bodies are not restored just enough to sit on the sidelines, but are remade with excellence. They are not idle but contributing to the beauty of Heaven, thriving next to a sea of glass.

It's Not the Crises You've Been Told
It's Not the Crises You've Been Told
We don't have a mental health problem, nor a gun problem. We don't even have a propaganda crisis. Instead, we have a sin problem, and before you write that off as cliché, preachy scapegoat, we need to remember what sin is, because our society has utterly forgotten it, even inside the church. We have a sin problem, meaning we have missed the mark. Fathers are utterly gone. Women don't want to be mothers. We tell kids not to punch back at bullies, and adults not to run into the fire. We keep families away from their sick loved ones, and should they actually make it into the hospital, they have to muzzle their face. We encourage everything that makes us depressed, and pretend as causes have no effect. We have missed the mark, we have rejected God. Now, we have a thousand rains which fall from that storm.

The Stakes of Calamity (Revelation 14)
The Stakes of Calamity (Revelation 14)
In Revelation 14 we find another recess. The best way we might understand this chapter is like a sports announcer who is giving a recap and clarification in the middle of a game. Of course, the stakes of Revelation are much higher than any sporting event, but this might be our best understanding of this chapter. We are reminded that God has prepared a way for His People, that their holiness and purity is important. We are reminded that God is victorious, that Babylon is fallen; and even the world is bewitched by the beast at the time of this chapter, God is still victorious and the beast has done nothing to change the score. As far as our kind is concerned, we are reminded to endure, that we must compromise for nothing, but face the travail which is set before us. God will take care of those who stand, but they must be willing to endure.
