Systemic Injustice in Our Weights and Measures, Proverbs 11:1

63

Unjust weights and measures are everywhere in modern society. They're in our finances, our race relations, our politics. But mostly, they're in our own hearts.

I don't usually get political in my videos...but I made an exception for this one.

A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight. Proverbs 11:1

Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord. Proverbs 20:10

When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measures of length or weight or quantity. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. And you shall observe all my statutes and all my rules, and do them: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:33-37

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Matthew 7:1-5
