WHAT IS SUBSTACK AND WHY SHOULD I USE IT?

In my last video and post, I reviewed many reasons why you might wish to consider using an electronic mail newsletter service. Substack was founded in 2018 and is one of the more recent entrants into email newsletter-subscription service providers. Substack provides the following for its newsletter authors:
● Post Designer – The web browser-based tool allows the end users to create their newsletters online.
● Post Publisher – This tool allows the authors to publish their newsletters instantly or on a scheduled basis.
● Analytics – Important for business-related newsletters, Substack lets you view statistics about each of your newsletters regarding interaction with the email.
● Payment – Substack also allows you to produce and get paid for your newsletters.Show more

SPOKEN OR AUDIO CONTENT
Substack also allows you to publish audio files as content and essentially convert your newsletter into an email-style podcast. This opens up all sorts of possibilities for people that are good storytellers but don’t necessarily have typing skills.

FREE PUBLISHING
Substack will only charge you for publishing if you charge for your newsletter. If you charge for your newsletter, they will collect the payment and charge a fee for their services. Their free publishing offering doesn’t have any limits, so there is no downside to trying it out.

YOUR CONTENT
Your content remains yours. You end up with the following benefits that you can access:
● a newsletter website which displays each post
● an email list of subscribers that you can export and download
● automatic analytics detailing how engaging your content is
● control over what content you charge for and what content remains free
