I spent about 25 years of my life not voting or seeking to help or improve our civil governments. The church of which I was a member taught that we should be concentrating on our church life, preparing of Christ's Kingdom. They read a few Scriptures that convinced me, but I never studied the issue for myself.Show more

One day, in a conversation with friends, some where explaining their biblical reason for voting. Another good friend said, "No, I don't vote. I might vote against the person God wants to become the leader. I just pray that the person God wants will be elected."

Then the thought occurred to me: "If all Christians took that approach, then we would have a huge group of Christians praying that God would cause the non-Christians to vote for the right person. Can God only work through unbelievers? What would happen if our evangelism were wildly successful and we converted everyone in our precinct to Christianity except one. In the next election, would all Christians be praying that this one person would vote for the right candidate?

That was not an answer from the Bible, but it was a challenge to study the subject thoroughly in the Bible for myself--and for you!
