Belt squats are a great exercise to train your legs and get full range of motion of the hips throughout the movement.

However, the belt squat machine can take up a lot of space in a home or garage gym and they are also pricey.

So I came up with a DIY garage gym version using a dip bar attachment.

Simply attach the dip bar to the bottom of your rack.

Step up to it facing the rack and hand on to an upright with your arms to support yourself.

Just make sure your feet are placed securely and start your belt squats.

That’s all there’s to it.

Belt Squat Benefits

The belt squat is a great alternative to train your legs under load without adding weight to your low back.

The belt falls on top of the hips so there's no compression on the spine.

So people with low back problems can still squat without putting weight on their shoulders.

People who have shoulder problems and can't reach back to hold on to a barbell on their shoulders can also benefit from this.
