We are driving from Snoqualmie Summit down the road a few miles to Lake Keechelus. Lake Keechalus is an irrigation reservoir for Eastern Washington farming. The water is drained from early spring to late fall, to irrigate most of the fields in Eastern Washington, then fills back up from late fall to mid-summer from the mountain snow. The spot we stopped at is usually about 30 feet under water. The stumps you see were from trees cut down over 100 years ago. The leave the stumps in the lake to decay because it’s a great fish habitat when the water level rises again.
