Vietnam: the City of Hue, The Ancient Kings Palace, or the “To Mieu Temple”.
Home to the 7 Nguyen Emperors. Gai Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Tu Duc, Kien Phuc, Dong Khanh, and Khai Dinh. A Beautiful walled Fortress built in the early 1800’s.
During the French occupation (1884 to 1954), the palace fell into disrepair and was almost abandoned.
Rebuilt to honor the lost culture back in 1997 – 1998 to restore a sense of honor to the past Vietnam, the site is now a great living memorial to the past glory of Vietnam, and an incredible educational center and Tourist destination.

With the city of Hue right outside the palace there is plenty of modern comforts surrounding the area, but once you cross through the 18 foot reinforced walls, you step into a wholly different place.
Take a full day to enjoy the palace if you make it to Hue, and maybe another full day to visit the kings Tombs hidden in the surrounding area of hue. Rich in history that you can touch and smell, you’ll leave this city with a much deeper understanding of Vietnam and its people.
