At the museum, I am drawn to a display for the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten.
The monotheistic leader of Egypt. The antiquities fascinate me, and I am so entranced
by them that I find myself being transported by a whirlwind back to that time.
I am on a barge traveling in the Nile delta in the 14th Century BC... Passing the old capital
of Thebes, and unhappy place stripped from the center of power, calm is only on the
surface. we come in sight of the new center of power, the city of Akhet-Aton. As we draw
closer we see the royal passage of the Pharaoh himself followed by his retinue.
All those people near are paying homage. As our barge travels beyond the site we
realize that there are those outside who plot and scheme to return to the old order.
As the music passes so did Akhenaten. Akhet-Aton soon in ruins, and Thebes returned
to its former glory. And as quick as I arrived a whirlwind carries me back to the modern
times. When I become aware of my surroundings, I am on the front steps of the museum.
