I have to wonder how anybody thinks it's reasonable to use the term "settled science."

Looking at history, if there's one thing science is not, it's settled.

The whole process of scientific discovery, is surrounded by the notion that we don't know. That very realization, should be enough to convince folks the discussion is pretty much never over.
