Messy Families

People are so different, and in all families, the human condition is alive and well. There is no perfect family, and no perfect family member. No human being can meet your needs and thankfully, Jesus, He is our enough. Family emotions can really heat up over the holidays, as the dynamics of exclusion, conditional love, and past hurtful relationships, bring about drama, drama, drama, and it gets bad when things are blown way out of proportion and expressed in self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is a pride that can’t admit the imperfection of messy family life, and indignantly points fingers at others, while all along they are a part of imperfection. Self-righteousness is a family stank like no other. In the midst of messy family relationships, don’t resort to self-righteousness, humbly admit that you and your family is not perfect, but loved and forgiven by God.
