This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 5. We will look at the Old Testament Levitical High Priest and see both the good and the bad – the bad being the weaknesses of these Levitical High Priest. We then, take a look at Jesus Christ and see that Jesus truly did live life here on earth fully as a man. Christ was fully capable of sinning, and yet He did not. Christ does not have the same weakness as the Levitical High Priests. Jesus was appointed by God as our Great High Priest at His resurrection; Christ was begotten when God raised Jesus from the dead.
Finally, the author of Hebrews makes a criticism about the Hebrew Christians to which He was writing. And, of course, this criticism would apply to most Christians today, if they were honest enough to admit it. However, within the same criticism is buried the remedy, the “how to” overcome this criticism.
