This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 3. This chapter is clearly a continuation of the previous chapter in audience and context. The author makes it abundantly clear that he is addressing true Christians. He then goes on to compare Moses to Jesus Christ. This comparison is similar to the comparison in chapter 1 where the author compares servants to the Son of God. As in Chapter 1 where we saw the Son is God, here in Chapter 3 we see the builder of all things is God. Again, the author pointing to Jesus Christ as God. We then are encouraged to hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. We discuss what our confidence and hope are in. Next the author warns Christians today of the deceitfulness of sin. This warning that the author gives was actually given by King David to the Israelites in David’s day. This warning points all of us back to the Hebrews during the day of the Exodus. What happened to the Hebrews during the wandering in the dessert should serve as a warning for Christians today.
