The Slick Rock Trail in Moab Utah is arguably one of the most famous mountain bike trails in the world. The tacky sandstone delivers traction out of this world with the right tires. In the early 2000's, I used to ride this trail 3 to 4 times a year while visiting the area on mountain biking adventures outside of Arizona. 20 years later, this trail brought back memories as I chased the sunset around it's 11 mile length.

Completed as a motorcycle trail on June 5th, 1969, it's fame became immediately apparent when a visitor flew in to ride the trail but could not find a motorcycle to rent. Around 1978 group of local skate boarders were featured in The Wide World of Skateboarding after skating the area. When Rim Cyclery opened in 1983, after Moab's uranium processing plant closed, Moab started making itself known as the mountain bike capital of the world. In 1983 Rim Cyclery started as Ross dealers and soon after brought in something new called a "stumpjumper".

There are countless places in the world that could easily claim that title but remember, Slick Rock in Moab Utah is a gem of the cycling community with wild roots sure to fire up your spirit and open your eyes to miles of adventure
