Tanker Hauling Toxic Chemical Turns Over, ACE, October 13, 2020 - At approximately 2 pm on October 13, 2020, a tanker hauling Methyl Methacrylate Monomer, Stabilized, driven by Gordon Paxton, 58, of Greensburgh, Louisiana, was east-bound on FM-2610. According to Paxton, as entered a curve at Menard Creek, he lost control of his rig in order to avoid hitting a dog. His rig left the pavement to the right as his load turned over. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments, Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Donny Akers, Colton McQuilkin, and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Paxton crawled from the wreckage uninjured. The chemical Paxton was hauling is considered toxic and flamable. Firemen worked to dry up spilled diesel on the Menard Creek Bridge. All traffic on 2610 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. The tanker actually sustained a leak and a hazardous material cleanup crew was summoned.
